I like you have been looking at the technology.

Both are in there infancy to say the least. The hype about the number of hours of recording time seem to be VERY overblown.

The concept is great but the technology is not quite there. What happens when we start getting HDTV broadcasts at the end of the year (want to talk about eating storage space).

I personally have been looking at moving toward a Digital VCR functionality on my PC (disk is CHEAP and easily expandable) similar to the Digital VCR software from ATI Technologies. Although the directory services are cool from both companies (REPLAY/TIVO), one for the PC is needed.

The other selling point which you really need to ask yourself about your possible usage is the PAUSE feature. Some will use it, some won't (big selling point from them).
