Well, I have long runs of standard 10-guage speaker wire running to my rear speakers through the walls/ceiling. One of the runs is forty feet long, and there is no added static or distortion... seems fine. However I have seen noise picked up from long runs parallel to electrical wiring. Safety-wise, I see nothing wrong.
