While I have not had any experience with the Sony system, I have used the system currently being sold under Sennheiser's name.
The original Auri system brought out by Virtual Listening Systems was and is still a very cool gadget that I use for late night viewing in my Brooklyn apt.
So I can tell you the technology works and works well. I also happen to like Sony headphones very much. I own the MDR-CD1000 and V-900.
I couldn't tell from the web page but it doesn't look like the unit comes with a remote, so you would have to get up to adjust volume.
The other system uses a corded headphone with a wireless controller.
Also, the Sony system uses "open air" design headphones. Which only means that if you have high ambient noise,(radiators, street noise) it might be distracting. The models I use are "closed air" designs, which I haven't found fatigueing.
Also I didn't see a provision for a second cordless set.
