J; For what it's worth: I had problems with my HDTV/DVD player configuration before I learned of this forum, so being the person I am I called 3 (yes 3) of the "TOP" A/V stores in my area & the 1st response from each was "it's your cables try another set" I assume there is some problem with cables in general. Mine were "top of the line". As doing so made no difference, I again called & was told: 1080i is not supported yet by DVD's. Set the DVD menu to progressive scan or auto progressive scan, do not use the interlaced setting (1080i not being supported yet) I followed the advice & auto progressive helped but did not solve totally - so I traded my DVD up to the next level & it solved my problem to a great extent, however as (other than the Elite) I have read in tests that Pioneer Dvd players are a "definite must NOT buy" - so I'm going to upgrade to Elite or switch brands . I will be curious in seeing what Larry F & Brett D & others have to say & maybe I'll learn that I did not have to do what I did! LOL Doug
