Foam, there's a great difference between component (3 lines) and composite (1 line).
I wouldn't recommend Y-cording either one. There are stand-alone component switchers available, if you are otherwise happy with your system.
No, JVC's switchers are not the only ones around. Even Radio Shack has A/V switchers.
