Im well puzzled on this one, im using the Pink Floyd The Wall DVD to set the speaker levels on my sony STR DB-940 and as i have my speakers set to small the sub outputs at the same time as each speaker (this i guess is normal as the bass redirection kicks in).

My problem comes when i get to the sub as on my sony i can alter the subwoofer level and also the LFE. Which do i alter when the subs getting the signal?

I ask as ive always altered the sub level but realising i could alter the LFE i have done. Doing this alters the SPL reading so my sub setting then goes down so in theory do i leave the sub at zero and alter the LFE first. Then reset the LFE and alter the sub then return the LFE to the figure i had?

Dont know if this makes sense and if it dont it probably explains why i'm confused...aaahhhh

please help as my brain cannot compute
