I have a problem with my yahamaha amp and thought it best to share what I found.

I emailed yahmaha and their reply is included.

Hi Paul,

First off may I thank you for the info concerning the replacement for my
DSP
A2. The insurance tried to
fog me off with a £500 model until I sent them your email and explained if
anyone knows the replacement its
the people who make it.

Now onto the real reason for this email and sadly its a problem.

The problem happens is if im watching a DVD through optical and I have it
set to THX cinema both normal and
EX (triggered manually or by a flag). I dont know about co-axial as I
havent
tried it.

If I slide open the flap on the bottom of the remote and press the arrow
keys up/down left right the whole amp freezes
and by this i mean literally everything on the remote and the amp! I have
to
pull the plug out of the wall and this as you
can imagine is not good at reference levels.

As you are aware this is the method stated in your instruction manual page
32 on how to select decoders!

I have the decoder set to AUTO as on page 32 but I see no reason that upon
pressing these keys the result should be a freeze.

May I add that this problem does not occur with a PCM stereo signal input
through coaxial from my digi box. The reason being is
is I can select the different decoders as per the above method page32.

I look forward to your help with this matter and if you require anymore
info
I'll be glad to provide it.

Kind Regards
john

It is not a problem that we have been made aware of previously, best thing
to do is pop the product back to your dealer for further investigation. It
is definitely not normal operation, and needs to be investigated as soon as
possible.

Paul Davey
