Lack of actual models.
Lack of good technology in models.
Poor reliability for the transport.
Crappy menu/control system.

You'd think they could fix some of these. The 2nd one is the main reason I refuse to have one. I would love to have even a 5 disc changer that could match my Denon 2900 for audio/video quality. But Denon won't make one.

The way mfgrs have made machines is just bizarre. EX: 2 years ago Panasonic made the best machines on the planet. They had their own MPEG decoder that was virtually the only one that fixed the CUE bug inherent in MPEG. So what did they do? Stopped using it! They switched to a 3rd party decoder that was crap in comparison. I believe they've gone back to a Matsushita brand chip now, but it still isn't as good as the one they used in the RP-82 and its siblings. And even back then, the RP-67 (I think that's the number), the 5-disc changer sibling, didn't have the best chips in it. So the RP-82 still had better picture for a little less money.
