Yes, you can. I believe there are two solutions.

"Zone B"

In the setup menu under "Options", "Speakers B", you can select "Zone B" (it is defaulted to "Front"). This adjustment precisely solves your problem. I will be surprised if this feature is not available.

"Zone 2"

If you have a second amp lying around (the one you replaced the Yamaha with), you can actually enjoy TV in the main room while others listen to CD etc in the Living/dining room. Connect this amp/receiver to the "Zone 2" output on the back of the Yamaha. Read the manual or call Yamaha Tech at 1.800.292.2982 for them to walk you thru the setup. The manual has always been a little hazy.

Very nice receiver in the "Concert Series". We carry the main line of Yamaha but they are essentially the same. Our model numbers start with RX-V instead of HTR.
