Someone PLEASE help! First I apologize for being completely ignorant to so much of the lingo and for interupting probably much more interesting conversation.

I am looking to replace my Sony DE885(?) - something blew and would just assume upgrade. I am looking for probably a higher quality receiver - maybe 500 - $800. Now - please don't laugh if I cannot get a "quality" receiver for this much - but perhaps someone can lead me down the right path.

I know I'd like some of the most up to date movie sound stuff (I have heard THX?). But not totally necessary if there are things that make it sound awesome. Currently I have Cerwin Vega speakers (nothing fancy - and will probably upgrade next year). I would like the 2 Zone thing. 7.1 is not necessary. I have heard of a "mic" that you can set in the view area and the system will automatically adjust the sound (?).

Most of all - create quality & sound. Both music and movies.

Am I asking for too much in my price range? One suggestion someone did give me was Onkyo **??702 (not sure).
