This is going to sound like it's coming from a 12vlt forum.
I've had excelent results building slot ported, down firing enclosures for boats, convertables, and any 'outdoor' venue. I usually use JL audio 12W3's. They are very musical, go way low, don't require a huge enclosure,and handle a ton of power!
By using a down firing configuration, you'll gain about 3db(twice as loud) by coupling to the floor. It may not make your eye's bleed but it can make your ears bleed!
Now all you need is enough mid/high's to keep up with the thundering bass!
