Update: I got the CX777ES in and it does the same thing only not as bad. I will say that the video and audio quality are significantly better than what I remember the CX985V produced. The blacks are much more defined.
I just tested the Kenwood Sovereigns at the store yesterday, and they play them back fine. I guess I will have to go with a Kenwood. :P
