Quick followup: I've discovered that sending a '0' and an 'Enter' to my Sony TV (which has channel fix on since I don't use the internal tuner at all) will consistently get it back to the 'Video 1' input, and from that consistent state I can skip to any other input using the 'TV/Video' button. A direct select would still be much cooler, though.
