Sounds like Jim is right.

You do still have the friend's ccf, right? I will bet that you copied the TiVo device or panels from that ccf, but that the commands on those pages were aliased to commands on some other panel. If that is the case, when you copied the panel, you severed the connection between the buttons and the target commands.

The way to do this is to take the friend's ccf, store it under a new name, then carefully delete everything that does not have the TiVo commands (including the home pages and especially the home page hard buttons). Then store again, open your file, then open this file and choose Merge. This will bring the panels in that TiVo file, and their relationships to one another, into your ccf.
