My local cable company has finally made the leap into the HDTV and of course I'm one of the first to jump aboard and from day one have ran into several irritating bugs.
Since this is new for them, they decided to support HD by using 2 boxes(initially), one a digital cable box(digital box) which they have had for some time and the other is also a digital box(HD Box) but it supports HD. The HD box does not support any other channels other than the 4 HD channels. Each box has its own input and set out outputs. Both boxes run from one remote. So if you turn the channel on one, it also turns the channel on the other. On my TV it takes up two inputs, a S-video and one of my Component Inputs (similar on the Audio side of things).
My TV is a Toshiba 50HDX82 and the two cable boxes are Motorola. The problem is that if I push the INPUT button on my TV remote the channel changes on the HD box (but not the Digital Box). In addition if I turn my TV on or off, it turns the HD box on and off. It is the strangest thing I have ever seen. After all this semi-conherent rambling, here is my question(s)! Has anyone else seen this? Is there an code overlap between these two manufacturers? I just ordered the MX-500 and I worry that I'm still going to have this problem. When I program my macro for my tv to change inputs is it going to change channels on me?

Here is the kicker. I programmed the cable box remote for Toshiba TVs. It is possible to change the inputs on my TV from the remote for the cable Box and I have no such problem! Any comments? ;-)
