Ok, so I finally got my home setup just the way I like it, so I figure "Hey- I need to consilidate my 5 remotes to 1" As if it would be that easy.... I initially go out and purchase the Sony VL1000 [the one with the little screen @ the top] and I work, and work and work with it, and out of frustration I take it back to Best Buy, and trade it out with a RCA RCU1010 model. I'm thinking "heck- That full touch screen remote looks like it should handle my components better than that Sony remote" so I grab it. I use its code function to setup my components, and I can add/delete buttons/functions/etc. I am very happy with my flexibily on it- I can setup the buttons EXACTLY how I'd like them, but here's my problem. The learning ability of the controller is HORRIBLE! I cannot teach it 2/3rds of the commands from my Mitsubishi controller and hardly any from the Tivo controller. Is it me, or the controller that sucks? Here's my setup:

Sony 5 disk DVD/CD/MP3 player
Sony Receiver
Hughes HDVR2 DirecTV Tivo unit
Phillips/Maganvox VCR
Mitsubishi WS-48311 TV

The controller seems to work the Sony DVD player just fine, along with the Sony receiver [at lest basic functionality- volume and such, but trying to figure out how to switch inputs/etc] and the VCR. Initially I tried a Hughes DirecTV receiver code [as SAT], but no dice there, so I attempted the "teach" the RCA controller all the functions- worked on less than 60% of the buttons. So then I disabled the "SAT" mode and used "PVR" [codes for Tivo] which some buttons worked ok, and others didn't. Info and Guide didn't work, so I taught it those, but could not for the life of me get thumbs up/down, enter or live tv [which swaps you between tuners on your sat] to work. Finally- the TV. I tried all [6 or 8?] codes for my mitsu, and volume worked on 3 of them, input worked on another and "PIP", "SWAP" & "PIP Input" worked on none, so I attempted to teach it that- a workout in frustration- I couldn't get ANY of them to work. So first I checked out the RCA website- the support site didn't have ANY info about the RCU1010, so then I call their tech support- and the IVR doesn't recognize the controller, so just "0" out for an operator. Explain to tech whats going on, [all TV codes, tried learning, with no lights in room [just natural light from outside] and 2-3 inches and dude says "Sorry, if that doesn't work- you should return it to the store- **AND BUY ANOTHER BRAND!!**" Right now my RCA remote is about to go back and I'm keeping my eyes peeled for another remote. Currently I have 100 bucks in the RCA remote, and need to know where I should go next. I was looking at the URC-9960 [ [Link: bestbuy.com] ] but after the review here on the Radio Shack "Khameleon", I'm kinda veering away from it. I see that Best But has an MX-500 remote, but it can only be ordered. I want a cool looking remote [I know- petty] but I also want it to have the same functions as my exsisting remotes. I figured the RCA remote would have user defined labels, like the Sony did, but it just doesn't. I wasn't really digging the Sony remote since the navigation stick felt kinda cheap and there were problems transmitting learnt functions from Sony remote to my DirecTivo. Anyways, thanks for any help in advance and thanks for reading my long-winded post!
