I'm thinking about giving the Sony RM-VL1000 a try. Slightly mixed bag of reviews, but it should be more than good enough for this purpose and can be had pretty cheap right now on eBay. $80 for a MX-200 seems like major overkill, as does fiddling with JP1 stuff.
