Question: what cable and software can be used with the MX-500 8 pin connector under the batteries ?
nothing, it is not a JP1 remote. It was tride by some to get it to work but t6hey could not, that is where IR-clone came from
Question: how does the IRClone-MX compares with the free JP1 software? Does it allow to add codes that are not preprogrammed in the MX-500? Can I use code published in the JP1 community with the IRClone-MX?
the MX-500 has a clonning feature (you can point one MX-500 to an other and in a few minutes the second remte will have the same config as the first. ). The SW that comes with the IR-clone let's you dl/ul configs to the remote and then manipulate them (move commands.....). There is also some utilities and I think there are a few that can impoport Pronto codes, I don't know if there are any that do JP1->MX-500
