If the marantz remote is IR only, it shouldn't control a receiver in another room. If you're going to use the marantz remote itself?
You need to know, that not only does the mx-800 remote itself communicate directly with most Rf extender receivers, but the transmitter from those RF extenders communicates directly with MRF-200. Meaning when you point IR only mx-700 at RF transmitter, the signal will be sent both the corresponding RF receiver in the cabinet upstairs and to the MRF-200 downstairs.
