I will try that...are you saying in your second option that I can get my yamaha receiver volume under the Directv mode (as opposed to having to switch to av1 every time I want to change the volume)? If so, that is great, because Directv told me over the phone that I would have to switch to AV1 every time I wanted to change volume if I am using a receiver, which I found utterly ridiculous (I mean, most people who have HD don't use the TV for sound, so you would think that the manufacturers would make sure you could use the volume key on the directv mode for whichever input you want).

and the white remote only has a single power key.
To get the volume: First there ghas to be a tv c ode programmed
to the tv device, yours or any. Or the vol keys won't
work, then:
1. av1 or av2
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-3
4. press VOL UP
If you wish the Yamaha vol in all devices do the following
instead:
1. av1 or av2
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-3
4. press SELECT
