I've gone through several cheap DVD players and finally spent more money to get a Samsung upscaling DVD-R player/recorder thinking it would be more reliable than the $29 players I've thrown out.
What bothers me about it, though, is how sensitive it is. Of the last 5 DVDs I've put in it, three had to be washed before they would read, and two would not read at all. All were rentals or borrowed. The two that wouldn't read in the Samsung WOULD read in my very old Pioneer deck, and also in my computer. I can make a DVD-R copy on the computer and the Sammy will play it fine even if it couldn't play the original.
Has anyone else had problems with the Samsung DVD-R decks? DVD-R135 specifically.
