josch, thank you. That information is very helpful. By
any chance did you happen to remove Escient from your
CX777ES and try to play the movies? Again, I'm tryinmg
to determine if the CX777ES or Escient is the problem.
I have a strong hunch that the CX777ES is the problem.
I believe that the player is having problems recognizing
Sony's use of it's own ARCCOS. The 3 movies you named
all came out in 2006 and I have found a more agressive
use of ARCCOS in the studio's latest releases. Again,
this is only a theory but I'm thinking that the software
Sony used in the DVD changer is modified from the program
used in single players.

Again, if it's not too much trouble, could you remove
Escient and try the movies with just the player.
