Thanks bookaroni, the use of the Silicon Optics Reon chip
really makes it a winner. Like you said Denon uses Silicon
Optics, not the Reon but the higher end Realta T2 chips
in their top end (5901ci, 3901ci & 2930ci) DVD players
after finally realizing the macro blocking issues that
abounded with the Faroudja DVDi chips.

To be fair to the Blu-Ray camp, the Samsung BDP-1200 also
uses the Reon chip, has HDMI v.1.3, and also supports
video at 24 fps. I know this isn't a big deal as most
displays (w/o external processors) can't handle 24 fps,
but it' still worth mentioning.

Actually the 2930 does use the Reon chip while the 3930 uses the Realta chip. The difference between the 2 is the Realta is programmable.
From what I hear the Sammy is the best Blu-Ray player out right now. Using the Silicon Optics chip in any machine is a big plus. It is amazing how SO kicked Faroudja to the curb.
Here is a very good review on the BDP-1200:

And here is a very good review on the Toshiba HD XA-2:

The XA-2 is suppose to get a firmware upgrade soon for doing 1080p/24. Which is a big thing to me as I own the Pioneer Elite PRO FHD-1 which will do 72fps.
