I experienced a similar problem trying to bring up the program guide on a satellite receiver. At first the guide did not come up reliably, and then after reprogramming the same button, it did not come up at all. then i tried programming one of the lower hard-touch buttons to do the same thing and found that it worked perfectly every time. If I had to guess I would think that the previous definition for the first button was not being properly erased. But since I was happy with the new button layout I decided to wait for the software before spending more time it.
