I tried the Roomie remote on my iPhone and was underwhelmed. TouchControl looks interesting. However, if I were to invest some time learning and configuring a new remote, I would like more - a nice configurable GUI touch screen AND hard buttons. So, while iPhone based apps are nice for convenience, I would miss hard buttons too much.
