Are any of you guys doing central vac for builders ? Is there any money in it?

As also an electrical contractor for some reason it has become part of the electricians portion of their job.

With Roombas and Stick vacuums more the norm now it is becoming less requested, even on our larger custom homes they don't spec them. The last one we did was 3/4 years ago and was only because they put a huge addition on their house which they already had one. I am sure if they didn't have it in the original house we wouldn't have done it.

As for making money, if you are good and efficient at it, it can be a money maker but if you are only doing one or two a year then it becomes less efficient roughing it in. The good thing is that the pipe and fittings are fairly cheep and we will use it for chases to TV's, attics, etc. as opposed to Resi-guard/smurf tube for the cost savings.
You can't fix stupid
