Knock on wood. I have never had anyone change the scene commands. Equipment isn't usually in plain sight, so maybe that's why.

Well here is something else to consider with using scenes.

If the customer ever has problems with the Yammy receiver and either they or Yammy tech support has them 'factory reset' the receiver. Scene programming is gone and breaks the system from now working as intended - requiring a service call unless you can walk the customer thru on how to reprogram the scenes themselves. And that would happen even if not using the first 4 scenes on the more expensive models.
Same thing in a warranty situation. If receiver gets swapped, then those scenes are gone and need to be reprogrammed.

When Yamaha 1st came out with the scene programming, I thought it was great. "How awesome of a feature is this".
But if you really think about it, for a business to use this for a customer (which isn't tech savy to do things on their own), then this is a horrible idea. So I do not recommend using scenes in programming your customer's systems.
