We haven't seen problems with the A1 but yes...see thread here.

One of our guys called Sony and was told that there was a firmware update that caused these issues to start happening. We talked to another Sony guy that didn't know anything about it but I believe it as we never saw these problems before and we've experienced it now with multiple sets.

We did go out to one house with problems, did a factory reset and made sure these settings were in place. Everything worked afterward (so far at least).This is from Sony's tech guy.

Press the HOME button.
The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
Select Timers → Sleep timer → Off.
Select Apps → Timers → Sleep timer → Off.
Set Idle TV standby to Off.

Note: Depending on the model, the Auto shut-off function may also need to be turned off.

Press the HOME button.
Select Settings.
The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
Select Device Preferences → Power → Idle TV standby → Off.
Select BRAVIA settings → Eco → Idle TV standby → Off.
Select Power → Eco → Idle TV standby → Off.
Set Auto shut-off to Off.

Press the HOME button.
Select Settings.
Select BRAVIA settings → Eco → Auto shut-off → Off.
