cut out the drywall for the area needed replace with equal thickness plywood. fasten the plywood accordingly with deck screws, run some caulk around the perimeter of the new piece of plywood. Paint if necessary. done. i just did exactly this for 75" frame with very awkward stud positioning. dont worry about patching drywall unless tv ever needs to come down and nothing goes back in its place.
