I'd suggest looking at replacing the cameras instead of the recorder. Hik cameras support all kinds of analytics at the camera and will work with Synology. Plus I like Surveillance station variation of scrolling timeline search for motion based events; it is the closest experience to a Ring or Nest that I have found so far.
