They work great at making all the signal strength bars on devices light up. To the average consumer, that means they have great signal.
People who don't understand this need to stop listening to their 'expert' friends. If I had a dime for every time I had to explain that the signal strength indication doesn't mean they have good speed/throughput, I would have retired a few years ago. I have instructed many on how to test the speed and that is helping to reduce their frustration.
