Curt, what do you recommend for residential, if not eero. I've done a couple of more eero systems since this thread but now I'm second guessing it. I've done some Unifi with cloudkey..etc..but eero seems a lot easier to deploy and place.

For those who have done a lot of eero, could you recommend it for a home with about 50 devices or bigger? Current home I'm thinking about has 15 Sonos zones (all wired except for two devices), A couple of DVRs that require port forwarding...etc...There is also a larger Radio RA2 system. Current Airport Extreme/Express system seems to be problematic now, with some antennas dropping off the network and Sonos zones disappearing sometimes

Hard wire as much as possible- standard recommendation. Port forwarding was stupidly easy with EERO when I set one up for a house with 22 devices (at the moment) and another 28 that were recently online. When I have asked if they're having any network-related problems, all I hear is "No, it's working so well we don't even think about it" and I had several complaints with the old router. When they wouldn't give up their death grip on the Crapple stuff, it was very bad- slow, devices would drop off, the iMac constantly tried to connect to the Airport Extreme that was in the basement and the signal was so weak it was useless, even though the Express was 15' away and the signal was strong. I had removed the extreme from the iMac's list and it still tried to connect. When I did a speed test yesterday, my iPhone showed >235Mbps.

In another house with three EERO Pro, they have 7-8 Sonos, 14 Nest devices, several Apple computers and hand-helds and the list shows over 40 devices, in total (with those that have been online recently). Not a single complaint.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."
