Absolutely possible down here, where it's a zillion degrees in the summer. But the door station that's the shorter run is in about 4-8 hours of nearly direct sunlight, whereas the farther location is very much in a shady area. And having worked on both of these areas, yeah, the closer location gets HOT, and the farther location is quite nice actually.

Also - these problems came up almost exactly at the 3 year mark, and the parts have a 3 year warranty. In fact, they probably failed just before then, but the homeowner was out of the country for a month or so, and only called me when they got home.
