That is completely wrong!
The new Genie 2 (HS-17) can support 8 TV locations, with 7 streaming at once. That includes 2 4K TV locations.
If you have a system with more than 8 TVs, then you do NOT want to go the Genie2 route. You need to stick with the HR54 setup. The limitation is you will only ever be able to have 1 4K client box active. But you can expand the system to a great number of TVs with conventional receivers (H25, etc.).
I agree however, that only masochist continue to pursue DirecTV services. DishNetwork or the cable company are way better at this point.
Or cutting the cord entirely and going with streaming, if you have an internet ISP with high enough speeds and reasonable data caps.
Diehard sport fans are really the ones that suffer these days. They are bound to high price subscriptions with terrible customer service.
All this.
Directv is utterly clownshoes these days. I get constant complaints about their awful customer service (as with all things AT&T) and the latency in the boxes is getting worse by the day.
Really sad, I am a 20 year customer, former employee and up until the AT&T merger would recommend their service. Not anymore.
