Brent, I just put the CS-HDMAB02 in a project and have lost audio a few times. Rebooting the Metra piece brought it back.
Source was an Apple TV4k to an Epson 6040UB. Using optical from the HDMAB02 to an audio matrix. When the audio was lost there was no red light in the optical until it was rebooted.
Thoughts? Haven't had time to call yet.
That sounds like the AppleTV has dropped the EDID stream, that can happen when it goes to sleep. When you reboot the ABO it forces the ATV to reset. We have seen same with many brands of extenders connected to the Apple TV.
Best (cheap) solution is put a timer outlet on the power supply of the ABO and turn it off every night between 3 and 4 AM.
