We cook and grill a lot also. I purchased a set of Cuisinart knives from Costco. I think it was around $30 for a set of 5 or 6 in various sizes. Incredibly sharp and we have been using them for about six months.

We have a few higher end knives when we're getting our cooking on. For everyday use the Cuisinart package has been beyond expectations and I've used them a lot for trimming jerky.
