Most of us have been self taught. There are advantages and disadvantages to this. A disadvantage is that there can be some embarrassing gaps in our knowledge that would have been basic points in a formal education program. On the other hand, our broad knowledge base brought from our experience in other industries gives us a leg up when solving unique problems.
