I plan to remove the shell from an IR emitter and place the raw LED under the USB door. I might cut a wire pass out of the door's edge. The unit is mounted on a rack shelf and the wire will be difficult to see or disturb. Of course, this would make using the USB port more difficult, but it's not a problem in my installation.

I'm using IP control on this unit, however, it is a region free model and regions must be changed via IR and one must keep the quick start option OFF during region swaps. Routinely, the only use for IR in this case is for Power ON and one might need to poke around for discrete IR power commands. The RTI library cheats and uses toggles, labeled as ON and OFF.
