The policy I followed was to always make edits to my pre-merge PCF. Then, when I did need changes, either a new CD or a change to current functionality, all I had to do was to rerun the import/merge process. Prior to the Alt-Shift-Drag links functionality and the version 2.0 of the editor, it took about 20 minutes to complete a full merge. With 2.0 and the Alt-Shift-Drag Link capability, you can be done in less than 5 minutes.
