The Universal TV-owned series had respectable ratings over its four-week eight-episode run. It improved its hour for ABC vs comparable weeks last year with original programming (first hour of Extreme Weight Loss) by 81% in total viewers (3.8 million vs. 2.1 million) and doubled the slot in adults 18-49 (1.2/4 vs. 0.6/2). The single-camera comedy starring Lesure and Mike Epps was based on the classic 1989 John Hughes film starring John Candy. Like the movie, the series adaptation, written by Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley, centered on Buck Russell (Epps), a childish man who learns how to be an adult by taking care of the kids of his younger yet more accomplished brother Will (Lesure) – in a very childish way. Nia Long played Will’s wife in the project from Universal TV and Will Packer Productions. Cragg, Bradley and Packer executive produce the pilot, with Korin Huggins co-executive producing. - DEADLINE.COM
