look into URC. Dealers are allowed to provide software to end users for the Complete Control line of remotes.
The MX890 and MRF350 basestation would be a good combo if you only need to control things via IR.
I believe even Logitech has an option for controlling equipment behind cabinets. But if you are used to a Q50, you probably won't like the Logitech stuff, since you can't do much customization.
