The OP's oem remote is probably WIFI or Bluetooth. And so might not know that non-stick roku's accept IR as well. If all they have is roku stick, of course they are out of luck controlling it with universal remote.
Right you are, I forgot that I can use an IR remote with the ROKU.
So now I just need a recommendation for a simple remote that will power on my TV, control volume on my AVR and run the ROKU.
The simpler the better. I have too many women and children using the equipment to teach them!
