Hello...

I recently bought a Panasonic SA-HT75 DVD/CD Receiver without a remote. I hopefully bought an RCA RCNO4GR universal for $3, but can't seem to get it to work with this system.

1. Is it just me? Will this cheaper remote work and I just don't know what I'm doing (even though I followed the manual's instructions)?

2. If it won't in fact work, what's a cheap alternative that will give me access to the audio functions? The receiver seems to be trapped in stereo mode and I'd like to access the surround speakers. Cheap is the key word here, as this system will only be used infrequently.
