Thank you for your reply. I'm not sure what you mean by "test all keys, not just power and volume."

The remote instructions say to press the Set key until it comes on, then press and hold the Amp key, and then release both. From there (with the Set light on), you enter the code (all the codes for this remote are five digits). The Set key then blinks three times. At that point you press/release the Amp key and then press Power. If the correct code was entered, the unit will come on.

It sounds like you're saying there's another way to do it?
