I have just started looking into the possibility of controlling my SR5005 via RS232 as well and came across a post in this forum. As it was rather old (2011) I decided to start a new thread instead.
I hope someone could point me in the right direction. I have connected the receiver via a straight serial cable (input pin = output pin, measured and tested) to my PC and access it via Hyperterminal (I also tested with Putty, same result).
I can see readouts on the PC screen when I change the volume on the receiver directly (@VOL: -500 for example) and see when the source is changed or the receiver is switched on and off (e.g. @PWR:1).
So receiving the status on the PC works fine. What does not work at all is sending commands (any command) to the receiver. Hyperterminal or Putty will not allow me to type anything.
I tested the cable by removing it from the receiver and connecting pins 2 and 3 at the cable end and as soon as this connection is established text can be typed into hyperterminal and putty. Once connected to the receiver only commands can be received.
I understand that the SR5005 has no economy mode and that the rs232 interface should be enabled constantly.
Does anyone have an idea? Do I need to enable RS232 receive in the receiver? Change the hyperterminal settings (currently 9600baud, 1 stop, 8 data and no parity) or is there a know firmware / hw issue with the SR5005?
