Thanks for the quick reply. Apparently codes can't be updated in the RC40 and so it would then appear that it's totally useless?

Assuming that there are current IR/RF codes available for this Samsung f8000 TV, what remote with upgradeable codes would best replace it?
All I'm controlling are the TV, Surround sound, DV recorder and X10 lighting.
