There's just gotta be something about my brain... every time I try this (about once a year, which could be part of the problem) I get totally tangled up. By the time I figure it out, I've tried so many things that I can't write down just what I did.

I am working to create a set of IR codes in Hex for Protocol NEC1, Device 92. I've gotten through MakeHex, creating a hex file.  After that... I think I read that ProntoUtil can be used to turn this into commands, but I can't work out how to do it. Hex2ccf just blinks momentarily on the screen if I try to open it; if I drag the .hex onto it, it just blinks then, too.

The MakeHex readme states that I can use IRPanels to make the file I need. It's now called ccfPanels, but it's in the directory IRPanels... hey, nothing confusing there! Anyway, MakeHex says I can use IRPanels. ccfPanels says


Well... I do not know what to do here, as I did not generate anything with ProntoUtil. Should I "Just Select" after I open the .hex file with a text editor? This very text got me started with my statement that the word "just" means that several crucial words are about to be omitted!

Is the exact procedure for creating IR codes written down somewhere, without blanks in the process such as what "Just Select" really means, in detail?

edit: I just opened the hex file in Notepad and now have a Word doc listing all 255 commands. Now I think all I need is the shortcut that will somehow move those onto ccf buttons, or whatever correct details are needed to get them into hex2ccf.

edit 2: Well, I seem to have a ccf.... I copied and pasted all forty pages of IR commands, along with their labels, into the IRPanels edit window, and damn if it didn't create a ccf!  I'll be back when there's further progress.
