Two years ago I was introduced to Savant Control Systems. Their products got me salivating.

Many years ago I was introduced to Crestron but it was well before iPads and the cost was $$$$$.

Today, these companies no longer have a strong hold in the Custom AV Industry.

I've been on the search for years for the perfect control system builder and I have finally found it.

I've tested most APPS on the market and with every single one of them there have been some sort of draw back.

I don't want to spend too much time talking about the technology I have tested, sold and worked with for the past many years but here are a few I have worked with:

URC - These remotes were great for a while but now they're antiquated. Not to mention they just can't get away from equipment. They love all the equipment.

iRule - iRule has been my main tool of choice for the past year and a half. It's been great and you couldn't ask for an easier tool to use. However, there's no scripting, no conditionals, no image toggling and when it comes to custom and professional systems iRule falls short.

I've worked with Roomie, RedEye, and a number of other APPS available.

Today, AV systems and their control protocols are not un-like websites.

For professionals selling and designing systems from the ground up, you can design a complete control system without a single piece of equipment.

For existing installs, we can use Global Cache iTach devices to retro fit existing systems. Global Cache is introducing the iTach Flex next month with an HTTP API.

The magical tool I'm using to develop complete control systems today is Adobe Flash CS6 with coded in ActionScript 3 with the Adobe AIR SDK.

I'm working with contract programmers to help me establish communication protocols for iTach Devices. I've already managed control of XMBC and DirecTV over IP.

Overtime as I build my tools I will post my code.

As an independent agent in the AV industry I know the limitations of the available products on the market. I want to unleash the talented individuals out there who have the capability of learning coding and who know their way around photoshop.

Here is an example of a restaurant control system I am currently building.

iPad Control

The restaurant has 16 televisions. I'm using drag and drop for channel changing (Soon digital signage). Notice image toggling not available in some builders.

Using Flash as the builder we have MANY more options! With Adobe AIR I can distribute one system to multiple devices - iPad, Droid, Desktop (PC and Mac) and browser.

Here is the Gesture Engine I'm having converted to Touch control for timeline and movieclip navigation.

Imagine being able to use these gestures to navigate your system. IE Draw and X on the screen to shut down the system.

I've been stuck inside the box of limitations from the available tools on the market so my designs reflect that.

With Flash, we have the ability to completely change how a system is used.

For beginners, check out Lynda.com. I've been using their tutorials for months.

Sign up for Adobe Creative Cloud to gain access to $1,000's of dollars worth of software without dropping a ton of cash.

There are tons of ActionScript forums to help you out.
There are tons of templates available for free or for purchase for things like
clocks, timers, evenst and animations.
