Yesterday, I noticed my cable remote was not responding well. I figured the batteries died so I replaced them. This did not solve the problem. We called the cable company and the told us to pick up a new remote. Still problem. They replaced the cable box. Still problem.

During the testing, I discovered my TV was also acting up. I hit the volume down button ( for example ) and it will go in multiple steps or even go right down to zero even thought I only hit it once. Cable box is behaving the same way.

Either the component dies not respond at all or it goes crazy like I hit the buttons multiple times.

We tried operating the items right up close. No fix. Tried with the tv off. No fix. Turned off all lights that may be causing interference. No fix.

I am somewhat at a loss as we didn't change anything. No new component, no new light, no new phone. Nothing.

Any ideas at all what may cause this or how to diagnose the root cause so I can fix it????
