Which Doctor do you mean by "old show"?

For all its longevity, there were many attempts to cancel/cut costs, though the latter was always a bit of a joke as the sets were almost invariably "cheap 'n' cheerful". Anyway, the inevitable happened in 1989 when Michael Grade finally pulled the plug and put the programme into suspension.

There was a brief fling in 1996 when Paul McGann took the lead role in a UK/USA/Canada co-produced TV movie, which I thought was okay, though subsequently not good enough to attract further outside investment. It was then a further 8/9 year wait before the revival under Russell T. Davies.

To a very old fan (I've been along for the ride from the very first episode) these latter episodes have been little short of a revelation. The story lines, scripts, acting (Bob does have a bit of a thing about Matt Smith, but I like him) and production quality (no more wobbly sets) are almost invariably first class.

And if you do decide to check out some episodes, make sure that one of them is "Blink" (starring a young Cary Mulligan).

I remember catching shows back in elementary school.  That would have been the early 80's.  I never knew how long it actually ran.  I never knew there was that many episodes.  Maybe I was seeing things but I thought there had been a new series in the past few years or so.  I'm going to take a look at a few to see if it kindles up anything.
